BrandGen vs Recraft
Recraft keeps images on-brand through custom styles you build from reference images, weight and test. BrandGen extracts Brand DNA from one reference or your guidelines and applies it to every generation.
·
Recraft is an AI design platform built on its own image models (Recraft V4 and V4.1), with editable vector generation, a canvas, mockups, color palettes and an API. It is a strong tool for designers. BrandGen is built for marketers who need on-brand images without setting up a style system first.
How each tool keeps you on-brand
Recraft's main consistency tool is the custom style. In Recraft Studio you open the style selector, choose a style mode, add reference images (up to 10 for V4 Styles, up to 5 for legacy styles), adjust how much each reference counts, pick a type (raster or vector) and a palette, test the style with sample prompts, and save it to your library. Saved color palettes, built from hex codes or extracted from an image, add color control on top.
BrandGen's consistency layer is Brand DNA. Upload one reference image, enter your website, or paste your written guidelines, and BrandGen extracts your palette, typography, visual style and tone into a spec you can review and edit. Every prompt after that is conditioned on it, with no style to weight or test.
What Recraft is great at
- Art-directed imagery. Recraft's own models aim for evocative, stylistically distinctive images.
- Editable vectors. It generates vector art and icons as SVG, not only raster images.
- Fine style control. Per-reference weights and a precise or flexible style match let designers dial in a look exactly.
- Reusable, shareable styles. Styles can be saved and shared across a team, and used from the API by style ID.
Where BrandGen is different
- Setup in one step. One reference, your website or your guidelines is the whole setup. No reference set to assemble.
- More than a look. A Recraft style captures look and feel: rendering technique, color, texture, composition. Brand DNA also carries typography and tone rules.
- Your real logo as a reference. When BrandGen has your logo, it attaches that exact file as a reference image on generation, so the mark is not redrawn from memory.
- Model choice. BrandGen's picker carries several image models, and your Brand DNA comes along with each one.
